Todd H. Nye holds a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University and Juris Doctorate Degree from Thomas Cooley Law School, where he graduated cum laude and received the Book Award for research and writing. He interned as clerk for the Honorable Peter Houk, Chief Judge of the 30th Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan. Prior to law, Mr. Nye was self-employed for 15 years in the private sector.
Mr. Nye was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan on May 4, 2000. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
For the last 2 years of law school, Todd was the law clerk to attorneys Barbara Crozier and Linda Blais. From his admission to the Bar in 2000, until 2007, he worked as an associate in general practice, including 5 years with Bloomquist and Associates. His practice covered a broad spectrum of substantive areas, including bankruptcy, family law litigation, general civil litigation and trials, tort, abuse and neglect, probate, criminal defense and trials, business transactional work, small commercial litigation, federal civil rights, and small and medium estate planning.
In 2007 Attorney Nye formed Nye & Associates, P.L.L.C., with a primary practice focus on consumer bankruptcy, consumer claims, and trial work. The firm employs the latest data technologies and provides vendor-directed training to its staff, which results in efficient service to the client and accurate interface with the technologies increasingly employed by all courts. The firm maintains a law library, multiple subscriptions to practice publications, and access to Westlaw® databases. It has offices in Grayling, MI and Bay City, MI. The firm maintains a web-site for the use by clients and the general public. It also maintains a private virtual network connecting its offices and staff.
Mr. Nye is a member of the Criminal Defense Association of Michigan, the National Associates of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Criminal Law Section of the Michigan State Bar, and the Family Law Section of the Michigan State Bar. He is a member of the ICLE Partner program and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
